DeGem GIA Graded Diamonds

So recently I have been seeing various DeGem Facebook advertisement on my page. Naturally, I am the right target audience as my Internet footprint has a lot to do with diamonds.

The interesting thing is that the advertisement is actually taking a jab the price of other online jewelers. Fun times. This is because usually online jewelers are the one who take a jab at the price of retail.

While I cannot comment on how good the diamond can be as DeGem do stock up a lot of loose diamonds in their inventory, but I am quite certain that their workmanship is good as my wife used to have one of their rings and love it.

I really like how clean the whole web design is. Being an IT guy myself, I find it comfortable to use. However, it is a shame that they are unable to capture all the actual diamond image for end users to evaluate themselves on how good the diamond cutting is. Perhaps they will improve on this in the future.

One thing I noticed is that some diamonds are actually dated a few years back, but I would say that this is nothing unusual as the diamonds probably don't move as fast as those in the virtual inventory.

So I randomly picked a diamond and I found this 0.33ct H VVS2 that has some lovely proportions:

So the HCA score is below 2, this means we can put this diamond in to consideration and go to Ampang and see this diamond. See if the cut is good enough. :) Yes, this diamond is located in Ampang branch, but I believe it can be "summoned" to any branch if you are really interested.

I won't comment too much on the price for now but in general, the prices are fair. Having a production house themselves mean that their ring settings can be much cheaper as well.

They also have a 7-day return policy, but I am not sure whether diamonds are applicable or not. You may want to enquire further if you are interested.

After looking at how much they priced, I can only say that all those "XX% cheaper than retail" statement can be misleading sometimes. I don't know how one got that figure but I find that as far as GIA graded diamonds are concerned, the price can be very competitive. Such is the case for Degem's GIA graded stone as well as other competitors such as Wah Chan.

As for cut quality, I would recommend you to visit and see for yourselves to make your own judgement. There are always good stones and not-so-good stones when the volume of stones is high enough, regardless of which retail brand in the market.

You want decent stone + decent price + decent ring + don't want headache? Buy from me la. XD.

OK la, for those that are interested, do take note on DeGem's inventory. You can check out their inventory via this link:

All the best to you.
