https://www.whiteflash.com/confidence/one-year-buy-back-guarantee/?a_aid=myengringexp

The purpose of this benefit is to significantly reduce the risk and uncertainty surrounding making a high dollar purchase. For example, when making a transaction of $5,000 the actual risk is limited to $1,500 if the purchase does not work out for any reason. (70% x $5,000 = $3,500 will be refunded to you). You are completely covered under the full money back guarantee for the first 30 days and the 70% buy back guarantee for an additional eleven months, relieving much of the stress associated with a purchase of this importance.

WhiteFlash's Lifetime Upgrade Policy

https://www.whiteflash.com/confidence/lifetime-trade-up-guarantee/?a_aid=myengringexp

You may trade your qualifying Whiteflash diamond at any time for any other single in-house diamond of equal or greater value. Credit will be given for full purchase price, less original shipping, for any qualifying trade up. Please note: All discounts applied to the original order will be taken off the trade-in credit for the diamond. Diamonds must be returned in undamaged condition accompanied by original diamond laboratory certificate. (Any modifications, repairs or parts necessary to securely set the new diamond will be charged separately.) Shipping and insurance fees to send the original diamond in for a trade-up are the customer’s responsibility.

So, don't be afraid to start small first. Don't feel pressure of getting a small diamond for your other half. You are always eligible to upgrade to a bigger size in the future. This is one of the things that their customers do over years! And this is also how some ladies' diamond tend to get bigger and bigger and bigger!

Of course, some may say it doesn't make sense to trade-in engagement ring, but it really depends on what an individual is aiming for. As for me, I will probably keep the engagement ring, and buy another "diamond" that is meant for upgrading purpose.

So, let's say I start from RM 7000, purchase a WhiteFlash ACA and set it myself. So I will try balance out my 4Cs and budget. I get this:

0.431 ct F SI1 A CUT ABOVE® Hearts and Arrows Diamond

https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-4311081.htm?a_aid=myengringexp

The cut quality for this stone is simply terrific.

How about the price? I always use wire transfer because it is cheaper, and also, sometimes Malaysia credit card won't be able to pass through, not sure why. So, let's use Transferwise, my new preferred money remittance site:

Ok, so the price is RM 4648.33. How about setting? Well, if you find me, I can charge you from RM 1400 for my existing design, and from RM 1600, if you decide to custom to your own. The price is "from" because ultimately, if the finger size requested is big enough to jump to another tier, then it will be more expensive. Anyway, I will assume a finger size of HK 10, the price will be RM 1400, so add that in.

RM 4648.83 + RM 1400 = RM 6048.83.

Gosh, I actually saved almost RM 1000 and someone is going to happily get a beautiful diamond ring.

Ok, so fast-forward to maybe 1 year later, company is giving me a good bonus and I decided to allocate some budget to keep someone happy. If someone decided to forgo a small Gucci bag and decided to go for an upgrade, then I can execute WhiteFlash's Buy Back Policy.

At this juncture, I have to be clear that there will be some monetary loss compared to the original diamond because shipping cost will be deducted from that amount, and that is probably 2-way shipping cost - 1st time sending to you, 2nd time sending back.

Also, I am not sure whether they will unmount the stone for you or not, or you have to unmount first before sending back to them. Of course, if you have to unmount first, then I can also do it for you. The ring setting won't fit the new diamond as it is on different carat tier, so you must well trade-in the existing ring setting for a little bit of money. Why little bit? Because trading-in gold will only get back the gold price at selling rate, but the original workmanship cost is not refundable. But then, I may be able to use that trade-in amount to contra back for your new ring setting, if you decided to let me do it for you as well.

Overall, what I wanted to say is that don't expect to get back everything in 100% full amount, but rather, you can get back quite a decent amount that is enough for your to do an upgrade easily.

So, let's say I am going to upgrade to this:

0.618 ct H SI1 A CUT ABOVE® Hearts and Arrows Diamond

https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-4193712.htm?a_aid=myengringexp

The price is USD 2104.

Assuming I can only get back around USD 1000 from my trade-in, so I still need to pay a balance of USD 1104, which will be around RM 4,615.98. You can probably even ask for loyalty discount, see if they can give that to you!

So, you come back to me, I can probably charge you approximately the same price as before for the ring setting if you traded-in your old ring. Do take note that I am just estimating because I never experience before such scenario and I don't know how the factory will charge me. However, what I can tell you is that I will charge you a fair price accordingly. Of course, I always encourage you guys to do due diligence or market survey first.

So, now, I have a ring that is slightly bigger than before. :D
