So, when iPhone came out with Rose Gold, there was a craze for it. Colour playing is such as lucrative business. Just look at all those G-Shocks, whereby different colour can fetch different price!
Anyway, back to main topic. Rose Gold.
So, I guess most girls like Rose Gold jewellery, they indeed look pretty sweet. Heck, even I like Rose Gold. But do you know, one of the main components of Rose Gold is COPPER? Yup, our Malaysia 1 cent material. Not that I said it is cheap, but if a White Gold jewellery with PALLADIUM is compared to a Rose Gold jewellery with COPPER, then the White Gold piece should be more expensive because of PALLADIUM's rarity in comparison to COPPER. Well, of course, provided the amount they use are approximately the same, I guess.
Anyway, I am sure some jewellers will sell the a same piece of jewellery at the same price, regardless of the colour option. So if a buyer chooses Rose Gold, then the jeweller can earn more. :) But of course, personally, I feel that one should buy what they want, and not based on the original cost (the difference should be not that huge anyway). So, if you like Rose Gold, I don't think you should let the cost factor get in your way. But if you are more concerned about cost, then by all means, get the one which is more valuable. :)
However, there are some jewellers that sell Rose Gold or Pink, at a slightly cheaper price. For example, Bvlgari. My wife told me that their Rose Gold earrings are slightly cheaper than White Gold ones.
On a side note, not all White Gold piece comes with PALLADIUM. Before you purchase any White Gold pieces, ask what are the contents of the remaining 25%. This is assuming you are looking at 18-K White Gold, whereby gold content is at 75%.
